To show you how many patients got the care they need, we show a percentage of patients (ages 50-75) in each practice who received the recommended colon cancer screening. In order for a practice to get a single point, one patient must get screened for colon cancer; missing a colon cancer screening results in the practice getting a score of zero for that patient. The higher the percentage, the better doctors and their patients did in getting screened for colon cancer.

The word ‘percent’ just means ‘per hundred.’ For example, if Sample Practice has 100 patients ages 50-75, and 70 of those patients get screened for colon cancer, then 70 percent of Sample Practice’s patients got the care they needed.
