For Health Care Professionals

In Greater Cincinnati, we have been on an exciting journey over the last three years. Through the Health Collaborative, physicians, hospitals, health systems, health plans, employers and patients/consumers have come together to create a performance measurement and public reporting system that is objective, using evidence-based measures helpful to both providers and patients.

This work represents our region’s largest and most comprehensive public reporting initiative for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and colon cancer screening outpatient data. We intend to incorporate data from other chronic conditions in the future. Ultimately, our goal is to have all of Greater Cincinnati’s primary care physicians reporting their data. We are well on our way, with this report including data voluntarily reported by approximately 450 primary care physicians.

The Data

Physician practices submit patient data once annually. The data are independently audited and then scored, using a methodology that is both nationally accepted and locally approved by the Physician Leadership Group. Participating physicians get immediate access to the detail-level data so they can begin to use it as diabetes, cardiovascular and colon cancer screening health education resource for quality improvement. Local consumers have access to the annual composite ratings through this website, which encourages patient participation and engagement in their care.

Physician Guiding Principles

Physician leaders in our community have established the following guiding principles, which must be abided by in our community as this work is conducted:

  • Promote a level playing field as we measure and report physician data.
  • Use measures that matter to physicians and their patients.
  • Use a methodology that is explicit and open to scrutiny.
  • Work toward an aligned incentive system.
Physician Participation

Physician participation in this work is what has made this website possible. Through this involvement, our local physician community has demonstrated its commitment to doing its part for improved health in our area. Physicians and patients can only demonstrate improvement when we measure.
